Red Wine Chocolate Cake with Drunken Strawberries

Decadent chocolate cake with boozy strawberries
Ingredients
Cake
180g all-purpose flour
150g sugar
35g cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
180g sweet red wine
120g water
100g oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Strawberry Topping
120g sweet red wine
2 tbsp sugar
100g strawberries, thinly sliced
Instructions
Make the cake. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease a 9" round cake pan.
In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a medium bowl, whisk the wine, water, oil, and vinegar. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and gently combine.
Pour the batter into the pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out dry with only a few crumbs.
Make the topping. Combine the wine and sugar in a small saucepan. Boil for a few minutes, making sure the sugar dissolves.
Pour the wine over the strawberries and let soak for at least 30 minutes.
Assemble the cake. Remove the cake from the pan once it is completely cooled.
Remove the strawberries from the wine and place them on the cake. Drizzle the remaining wine over the cake and serve.
